In an effort to get a bit more “grit” in my work, I switched to my Paper Mate SharpWriter for this entry. This simple change seemed to help a bit, and I did my best to focus on over-exaggerating facial features and structure. Because of this, one of the figures reminded me of the late Pete Postlethwaite (hence the note at the top). Along with focusing on the exaggerated features, I also attempted to illustrate different shaped eyes. My drawings usually have very round eyes that curve on the top side. For some of these sketches, I tried to make the eye droop down. Along with scaling down, I think this drooping also helped the eyes too look a bit more mature and not so cute.
