Sketchbook: Dec. 16th, 2020

Alright, let’s brush off the cobwebs and put the pencil to the paper…

Oh jeez, there’s that cute style ALL over the place. Big, round heads with large eyes. Yep, they’re cute. That’s all okay, though, because at this point, I just really need to start getting back into the habit of drawing anything.

It also helped me to realize what was happening. So, on the last page, I made a very deliberate effort to make a less cute drawing. I did this by trying to make the eyes smaller, create angular shapes, and add as much wrinkly line work as necessary to get across the idea.

It’s still not quite there, but it was a good lesson in beginning to intentionally get outside of my normal drawing habits.
